  2. The Pegasus
The sky and sea had a clash,
That could have turned the world to ash,
And thus was born a chilling tale,
Of a Pegasus all should hail.
The water raged, the sky went black,
The war began with one giant crack,
    Lightning struck, the sea spun,
We all knew it had begun,
    Fires raged across the land,
    And nobody could quite understand,
When this battle would end, with the truth revealed,
But had earth’s destiny truly been sealed?
    And human kind caught in-between,
    With nobody daring to intervene,
But hope came in one shining light,
That could possibly end the fight,
A Pegasus, with its wings a glow,
Soared down to the sea so below,
Turned a color never seen before,
And with a flash, ended the war.
The people yelled, “Pegasus has won the day”
And Pegasus let out a mighty, “Nehh!”
But what caused such a fight,
That almost destroyed us in the black night?
No one knows, but one thing is for sure,
It really caused quite a stir
And Pegasus lives above all men,
To make sure it never happens again.

  3. A World Without Words
    By Annika
    There's a wisper in Windhill,
    A thud in Thundergrove,
    A light in Sunriseforest,
    A flash in Lightingcove,

I was stranded on a mountain,
    Between these points,
    A long time ago,
    But I will never forget.....
    The World Without Words.

  4. Sundays

    I like Sundays best,
    Eating pancakes with the rest.
    Playing in the sun,
    Sundays are great fun.
I wish everyday were a Sunday,
But I realize when I wake up the next morning,
    It is Monday.

  9. Pitter, patter on the roof
I hear the rain coming down
Boom, boom there goes the thunder
I see a bright flash of lightning
    Sitting on my window seal
    Rain drops on my window
    I draw a sad face

  10. A Snow Day

It was the evening of May 3rd, when Cascade Ridge saw it's first snow,
The children's faces were eager, pressed against the window.
They looked with amazement, a first snow in May,
It had turned out to be a beautiful day.
But alas, they were stuck inside school,
Doing their usual school day scheduel.
They longed for the bell to ring,
So they could get outside and let their hearts sing
    Ding! Goes the bell,
    They now all feel swell
    What a beautiful day,
On the 3rd day of May.

  11. Clouds
    By:Ben W
Sitting there above the world, lonely and still. Letting it's wet tears fall, which make puddles on high up hills. The little creatures on the ground ducking undercover. But suddenly the sun comes up, and makes them all uncover. Now the clouds feel joyful as they let the sun come through, the clouds watch the day go by, as they start to fade like you!

  12. Music and Art
    By: Noelle Hsia

    Every moment of the day,
I hear a flow of music in my brain,
It's not once a month I hear it,
It's every day so I can enjoy it,
Music runs freely in my head,
This is true it's not fake,
It's like a radio with my own personal channel,
Sometimes I will sing along in my head,
Sometimes I will draw with an absent minded brain,
    For when this happens,
I forget everything that's around me,
It's kind of like a dream, you can't control it,
I love music and art, it's my passion,
So when you see me day dreaming about this,
You can hear me humming and murmering to myself,
So if you see me like this,
    Don't bother me, I insist.

  16. The Fox

    There once was a fox
That lived in a small box
He invited a mouse to his house
    But the mouse never came
    With a pout
    He stormed out
To find the little mouse that didn’t come
    Then he went home
Tummy stuffed in the shape of a dome
Still wondering why the mouse never came

  21. SCHOOL
    By: Annie Mazzaferro

    Ring, ring, the bell dings
It's music time lets start to sing
    It's math time, don't throw a fit
Recess and lunch is a big hit
Why reading, it is just text
Science and social studies, what do we do next
What? It is time to pack up our things
Oh my, one minuet until the bell rings.

  24. The best book in the world
I was sitting on the edge of my seat
Reading the best book in the world
    Every word far more neat
    Than any ever made
I feel like it is a sweet
I am sure it is my favorite
I know that I just beat
My record for reading a book in a short time
This is probably my best feat
And I had fun with it
The book was as good as a sheet
    Of Beethoven’s best
    This book is better
    Than all the rest

  27. The Championship Game
    By Jill Streamer

We walked out hand in hand feeling like champions
    but the game hadn’t begun
as soon as we heard the whistle
    we charged and ran
passing the ball back and forth
    up and down the field
    panting with all our might
we thought we had this game sealed
    Bam! One lucky whack
and all our heads hung low
we still try our very best
but the ball just won’t go
    the last whistle was blown
we all tried not to show our tears
but the other team was running and laughing
    as all their parents cheered
our coach tells us we played great
but the first twenty minutes determined our fate
    my head was hanging low
all the way home, I just can’t seem to bear it
we lost the state championship and we had a go
I wish we could have won it

  28. I Stood in a Land
    By Ashley Davis

    I stood in a land
    the grass swayed
    in the breeze
    the sun was reflected
off the smooth glass of the lake
there was not a sound to be
    heard
    until I heard it
I heard a whisper in the wind
    the water flowing
    the birds chirping
then I heard there was no
    whisper
    the wind was howling
    howling with all its
    might
    the water was not flowing
    it was churning
    franticly
    the birds were not chirping
    they were squawking in
    alarm
    it was too much
    I fell to my knees
then out of the water rose
    a beautiful creature
a fish with rainbows on its scales
    it said "come child
    do not be afraid"
it cradled me in its arms
and pulled me into the water
I finally realized what I was
I was a fish glowing bright
I lived a happy life to the end of my days
I helped those who were lost and afraid
I took them to the water
til the end of their days

  29. Summer
    By:Max Poole

I laid on a beach watching the sun
    thinking about having fun
    I rested reading a book
while seeing a man fishing with a hook
I got hungry and got a snack
    While holding a back pack
I decided to rent a kayak boat
That was very hard to float
I went sailing and caught a lot of fish
then returned to make a dish
I fell asleep thinking of my day
while laying on a bunch of hay
I love summer it is the best
no more school time to take a rest

Pack your things, your ready to go
Get in the truck and there you go
Get to the camp site and pitch your tent
Get dinner ready over your camp fire
Burn your dinner and now it's time to eat your dessert
Jump into your sleeping bag and try to sleep
Hear the pitter patter of the rain
Say good night and go to sleep
It's time to wake up and start a fire
Get breakfast on and burn that too
Go for a hike and bring your essentials
Time to go back and burn another meal
Pack your things, your ready to go
Get in the truck and it's time to go

  31. "Bees"
Bees go by from time to time,
    Giving off their buzzy rhymes,
The pollen such a joy to spread,
"I thank you so," that's what I said,
The greatest seasons, spring and summer,
But then they go and it's such a bummer,
After some months, the bees are back,
    Spreading all their pollen packs!

I sit there, in a chair,
while boringness is in the air.
homework is not what I want to do,
I'd much rather play with goo.
even though, it's not a game,
    it is, very lame.

  34. "FIRE WORKS"
The fireworks go up on the fourth of July,
They make me want to cry,
They are not tears that make me feel bad,
Instead they make me feel very glad,
    Although it happens really fast,
They look like a nuclear blast,
Fireworks are very cool and fun,
They look just like the sun,

  36. "The Never Ending Story"
    By: Abigail King

    Reading
Reading a tale in which you cannot interfere
Is like being on the other side of sound proof glass
    Watching, warning, wishing, escaping.
Rustling pages bring a relief that nothing else can.
Escaping, if only for a little while, to a world of plots of wonder of sadness and loss of excitement of...
    Losing yourself
    Glimpsing, never touching
Watching a world better than your own. Or not.
An oasis in a harsh desert
A bright light in the dark
Chocolate in a field of broccoli
Love in a world of hate
A door in a door less room
    Always read
    To feed the mind
    To feed the heart
    To feed the soul,
Is the purpose of the Never Ending Story.

  37. Exciting Day at the Beach
    By: Hannah Hall

I watch the waves crash and crash
Then I hear the wind whistle
With every little creature in the sea
Watching and watching to come out
There're frightened as a kitten in a storm
    But, look
    The sun is coming out
    The day has brightened
    And know you will see
The friendly light that shines on them
    As though they are spotted
Everyone there is excited and happy
    For the bright day
    But look and see
The sea creatures are up and out
And everyone at the beach is having a blast
    The day is over
    The next to come
Waiting and waiting the sea creatures are
    To come and to see
    The people are sleeping
    For tomoroow's day to arrive

  38. The Secrets of Nature
    By Lucy

I once climbed a tree and stayed there for a day,
to find out what secrets nature keeps in a way.
I waited and waited, so much time passed,
when somthing zoomed by, very fast.
I looked around quickly, then posed like a tree,
because sudddenly, there was a bird sitting on me.
It stayed there a while, then it flew away.
Then right after that, a deer crossed the way.
Later a bear, strong and mighty came by,
and started to eat the berries that fell from the sky.
Too soon, I had to get off that tree and go back to the life that was patterened for me.
    And as I left,
I felt bad, I had not found out the secrets nature kept.

    Or did I?

  39. Gymnastics is Flipstastic
    By: Mariana

    Gymnastics is all about flips,
Like in bars you do kips,
and back circles with your hips,
In beam you do a leap and jump,
be careful do not get a bump,
In floor you do front flips,
    and maybe a handstand bridge,
And in vault you start on a lunge,
run, run jump and a flip before lunch,
you can feel butterflies in your tummy,
After you compete your face is all sunny,
And you will find flips are funny,

  44. The Jungle that Never Sleeps
    By: Noelle Hsia

    Thump,
    Thump,
Stomping is the only sound they hear,
    Thump,
    Thump,
They are feared of the beast that is near,
For if they sleep, they may never awaken again,
For when animals go to sleep, no matter how big they are, they become food for the beast,
    GROWL!
The mighty beast has caught a meat which will become it's feast,
For the birds aren't fast enough to get out of his reach,
The beast they feared and heard through the night was a tiger,
Animals scurry and squeal as leaves shake,
For the mighty tiger has caught it's feast in the dark night,
Whether it's jumping, stalking, or running for prey,
The tiger never gives up hope and never fails,
    It always catches something,
